Photos: Juris Rozenbergs<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Isabella M\u00fcnnich. mush\/room: growing together, 2023<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/_d88FITCZj8VnjcyVxxFXPMPcroLJD24wZIvcY57vuiYH4tTUUNYYxb_MYWgykhpUBMf0rkfIk3SS6dgTij0kaFAv4coZ96tt7MrNgNWC1XV3XnkYG4Czy6ex8AUnpbLSJcRZDBArxDAQs-SWKixnbc\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The German artist<strong> Isabella M\u00fcnnich<\/strong> in her<strong> mush\/room: growing together <\/strong>artwork performs a digital study of &#8216;interactional landscapes&#8217;, during her daily walks in the forests around Karlsruhe, the artist continuously observed mushrooms growing on fallen trees, their cycle of growth and decay. The artist captured these transformations of natural objects using digital scanning techniques (photogrammetry), creating digital sculptures that the visitor can experience by approaching them, walking around them, or even going inside to see in detail the striking structures of digitally transformed mushrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Anna Manankina. Vegetable Kingdom, Vegetable Anarchy, 2023<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/cOjjtq7NgTxfX-c4kg2RBA_0Dd_XVwcIeRYhIRvtBb6h0DMJW_D4GVv-uLb7yDQTzz7CWT2NZbPSrNttG-8-hK4i0rJhUOYTa280naSNQBBlwjtX36bMAR0Ile9L3yZPm_P7NoixOI7pJS2VCvsvGkY\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the exhibition participants is also the Ukrainian artist <strong>Anna Manankina<\/strong> who currently lives in Karlsruhe and was a residency artist at the ZKM | Center for Art and Media in 2022. The speculative <strong>Vegetable kingdom, vegetable anarchy<\/strong> artwork by Anna Manankina is an AI-generated species of plants, created using images from the Museum of Natural History, which are in a continuous mutation, evolving to a stage after which humans aren\u2019t needed anymore as any plant can take the shape of a human\u2026&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jung Eun Lee. Pond Creatures: Becoming One, Being Plural, 2023<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/ivNDO4v1tthGF0PNKrOo2B7H9WpNyAx8dPmKx9N-UnaXASKP1eu1yPCy3LlNjevOC2RZ6Xy74EnAhOxipTCXsb-xg8ZxsmWsDwEHW7y2cJ0yifvQcTSFAWgoU8onpdpQR2zvu1R5HvF3uWAJSsZUwNg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jung Eun Lee<\/strong> (Karlsruhe based South Korean artist) in her work <strong>Pond Creatures: Becoming One, Being Plural <\/strong>draws associative parallels between the biological being and social existence of both \u2013 non-human (pond creatures) and human (observer); the artwork is based on the artist&#8217;s observations of \u201cpond creatures\u201d living in the artist&#8217;s own built aquariums (of the glass jars) and their unique way of symbiotic living\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rihards V\u012btols. Me\u017es 2.0, 2023<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/6o3rV8wB5DYz07BT7GQFx2PbUVbvNYXXbaKPbI085H1XUkFYqlMq_JhUXR17mXvI-NJYl3DXLjf-HK-A619A_hxGX9qt9BNRKkK1xYPDQFzTiPRHEu7XLOfHGH3T01NtRbDDy8ayyMzOoShF7mSguBE\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The AI-generated 3D artwork Me\u017es 2.0 (Forest 2.0) by Latvian artist Rihards V\u012btols is a utopian, speculative vision of the new, more resistant tree species that simulates proposals and challenges for the future changes in nature and the environment. He uses AI algorithms to continue the evolution and mutation of the species launched in his Me\u017es 1.0 project, and creates a new collection of unimaginable tree species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jur\u0123is Peters. Cultivation of Domestication, 2023<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/8lUe_UFrkNMnnc-jtPIuSYBu_mgOUTyFO1YF1f8U09OJRQBDshHdiUunYGT0Y9nyylA8u6ES3EG-Ja3BwxR0deldE2IKFYobD8wb041VHAAMztJtTMYLx5n4CrMWu1V_rYNHzcvKPMwn9FgMOG5aGpk\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:840px;height:420px\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Cultivation of Domestication<\/strong> artwork by the Latvian artist <strong>Jur\u0123is Peters<\/strong> is based on contrarian hypothesis by the historian J.N. Harari&#8217;s, where he suggests the idea of the first &#8220;domesticated&#8221; cereals \u2013 wheat \u2013 which contributed to the agrarian revolution, actually domesticated us, not the other way around. An interactive 3D object is created using AI-generated images, addressing questions of plant-human relations in changing power positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sab\u012bne \u0160n\u0113. Soil Mate, 2023<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/DwIP9hWQf5tXINdV1N_6pFxBqCXDS2-X4CkeKqcCxvPndkEfAc3yeGBnxM0YgPsEBDvQFl1VbzmMd-gKt620Bg8oSMOJyRlH2B72DLexOBqIM4NutqOHD5tXO8zWtqN8DI5nDeAgS6BvVJM2-Qxvk0I\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Soil Mate <\/strong>by <strong>Sab\u012bne \u0160n\u0113<\/strong> (Latvia) explores the relationship between art, mythology and science. Inspired by the aesthetics of Stone Age&#8217;s Venus figures, the virtual 3D sculpture represents the contemporary version of Gaia. It is covered with the texture generated using various soil samples found in the Esplanade Park in Riga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Zane Zelmene. Omnisence, 2023<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/JHpBl0o3R4VjiUaWknsd1RUq4fpqzxnEppZ0e55uAwG_kvaXRkS81KNda74u3zn2v0GHXhijTsbuBkreiqAOemAaA-Mzq7Qu5j3gl1mQ39FNZHmmmVDx39Gx7hV48aMFRa-E8ToFIY5JF1f6KJYue4A\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Omnisence<\/strong> by <strong>Zane Zelmene<\/strong> and <strong>Soil Mate<\/strong> by <strong>Sabine \u0160n\u0113<\/strong> were first exhibited in Esplanade Park in Riga, Latvia as part of the previous RIXC curated exhibition on the Sensus Art platform in 2021.
